20 Places To Visit In Varanasi - The Holy Indian City
Your welcome email will arrive in your inbox soon. Great place to visit. Really spiritual with lots of history. Everyone should visit Varanasi at least once. You must try kachori and lassi from Thatheri bazaar. Try to avoid rickshaws or any kind of vehicle rather try to roam all the ghaats by walking. And don't miss the cultural programmes at the time of sunrise and sunset at Assi ghaat. Ghats, temples, markets, everything about this several thousands years old city is amazing.
Sikhs, Hindus, Muslims, all of them marked the history of this city. Visit to aarti ceremony is a must! When you see cremations and families there who allow you to witness these holy and private matters of theirs, you will feel deeply moved and grateful to them, for allowing and sharing that with you as a visitor to their country. The same goes for visits to temples, people will share with you this holy space and be more than willing to introduce you to their beliefs. The cutest part of the visit are cute and sometimes naughty animals, who feel incredibly safe and untreathened by humans.
Every animal lover cannot but feel moved by the fact. All in all wonderful experience! Recommend HOG hostel tours, Vinesh, seller at Manmandir ghat, wonderful man, who is there every day from eight o'clock, as he says. Keshari restaurant in the market street leading to the Dashashwamed ghat is a great place.
Sri Kashi Vishnavath will blow you away, same as the fact that a holy fire that burns right next to Manikarnika ghat, has been burning for years continuously, despite the wars, destroys, floods and all the things the city suffered from during its history. Once you have done the usual trips along the Ganges and experienced the markets which you can do in 2 days there is not much more to see, saying that other travellers will tell you days is required, all personal choice but for me I was ready to get out after my 4 night stay. All the Ghats are pretty much the same but some obviously lead to the sites on the Ganges where cremations take place.
To walk through the mazes of winding lanes is a very cool experience. To see the Ganges for the first time is surreal. Even when I was tired of walking I could spend hrs just watching the scene of the people along side the Ganges going about there daily rituals. I loved watching the cows and the dogs with there puppies. Puppies scrambling to catch there mums for a squirt of milk. Getting beautiful smiles and greetings of elder Indian women.
Young teenagers asking for selfies with us. Everything I like room place , roof , yoga teacher Ved ji, all staffs owner Ranjan all are very cooperative. They didn't ask for money for extra tea or coffee. They look customers all the time. I love the city too.. Very comfortable I don't want to come back from there. Very interesting and historic place. Just walk along the river to see all of the old temples and sights.
Take a boat ride to see the Hindu ritual from the river at 6pm. The faint hearted might want to avoid the two places where they cremate bodies openly by the river! There are endless touts and husslers to fend off, make sure you know ahead the right price to pay for things like boat rides and tuktuks, but even after you have agreed the price in advance they will still demand more afterwards.
One of the best accommodations we stayed at in India. We could see Ganga from our room. The owner is very kind and helpful. Thank you so much for your generosity. And he will give you all the info you need on what to do in Varanasi and even give you tips for travelling within the whole of India. We would definitely stay there again. The staff was very friendly and helpful Location is great, in the old town near the Ganges, with lots of small restaurants nearby The room is light and spacious, with a great view over the river and the old town, which makes it very pleasant All in all we enjoyed our stay and especially our room.
We were maybe expecting a bit more from the comments and from other places we stayed at in India. I think the accomodation offer in Varanasi is not the best, and Chatter Box is a really good address compared to the other places we checked. For a solo Traveller like me this place is perfect and I found it hard to dislike any of the facilities at Zostel Varanasi. Helping the backpackers the best way they can. Proud to be a Zosteler. Keep zosteling throughout India. Wifi was good, aircon worked! If I ever visited Varanasi again I would definatley stay again. Many thanks to the team, you are all doing a great job!
The Beds Are Soo Comfort Breakfast Is Soo Good..
Room Service Is Good Ab and his family are absolute wonderful! They went above and beyond other similar hotels that we stayed at in Varanasi They met us at the train station at an inconvenient hour with nothing less than a big smile and warm welcome. The hotel has hot water, towels, and toiletries which was a nice and unexpected treat for the budget traveler and we woke up to delicious chai and cookies!
The staff are really nice and accommodating.
